This DIY kit
includes all of the components you need: The famous 556 Integrated Circuit, jumper wires, a breadboard and a speaker to create your own DIY Synth. You'll need to buy a 9 volt battery. Keep the box because that's going to be your 'amplifier'!
How does it work? Using the numbered, grid-like breadboard and jumper wires, we used the online 'how–to' manual for instructions. Make sure that all the components go in the right places. Yes ... check and check again! Once constructed and the battery is connected, the circuit creates square waves. Using the two control potentiometers you can alter the wave's frequency and width. You can control the volume with the third single potentiometer. Be warned, this kit is made for tiny fingered people!
We used our Nikon 5100 camera and Dragonframe to make the stop animation. You can check out other Technology Will Save Us kits here
